Jacksonville makes Forbes List for housing bargins at No. 8!

The Jacksonville area has well over one million people, and is a  vibrant coastal community of neighborhoods with 68 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline and 300 miles of river.  The city is as unique as the people who live here.  The market offers buyers a wide array of properties ranging from luxury condo high-rises, to grand historic homes, to custom-built new communities in every style imaginable, there is a place for you to call home in Jacksonville. 

According to Forbes, Jacksonville was ranked No. 8 on its list of real estate bargins (Feb 2008).  Forbes notes the Jacksonville area did not go through an obscene speculation boom, making its recovey cycle far less daunting than other Florida markets.  Forbes also cited Jacksonville's relatively low foreclosure rate relative to other Florida cities in saying housing inventory is more likely to decrease than increase.

Other interesting notes on Jacksonville: 

• In the February 2007 issue of Forbes magazine, Jacksonville was ranked third on the list of the Top 25 “Best Cities for Jobs.”
• Jacksonville is home to more than 80 corporate and regional headquarters, including three Fortune 500 corporations.
• Fifty (50) million consumers are within 600 miles of Northeast Florida. 
• In September 2006, Expansion Management magazine named Jacksonville one of the top 50 “America’s Five-Star Logistics Metros” five years in a row—a ranking of the top cities for logistics in the United States.
• Jacksonville’s seaport is the No. 2 automobile processing port in the United States and with the recent Mitsui OSK Lines deal it is anticipated an estimated 5,600 direct and indirect jobs will be created and $870 million in economic impact to the region.
• Three major interstates, three railroads, 1 International Airport and 6 regional airports.
• Jacksonville International Airport (JIA) handles nearly six million passengers each year, as well as 168 million pounds of cargo. More than a dozen major airlines and a network of regional carriers provide some 200 daily arrivals and departures from JIA.
• 3 Regional Military Bases with an economic impact of $7.9 billion/year.
